Food Program - CACFP
Encouraging nutritious meals and snacks for children under care
CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) is a reimbursement program for child care providers through the New York State Department of Health. Child Care Providers may be reimbursed for serving nutritious meals and snacks to the children in their care.
Providers can submit their CACFP claims on-line using Kid Kare to descrease the amount of paperwork involved.
Eligibility
Registered Family Child Care Providers and Licensed Group Family Child Care Providers in Broome, Chenango, and Tioga Counties are eligible to enroll.
Legally Exempt Family Child Care Providers who care for at least one non-resident child receiving subsidy from the Department of Social Services and provide the care in their own home are eligible to enroll.

To file a program discrimination complaint, a Complainant should complete a Form AD-3027, USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form which can be obtained online at: https://www.usda.gov/sites/default/files/documents/ad-3027.pdf, from any USDA office, by calling (866) 632-9992, or by writing a letter addressed to USDA. The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation. Yes, you are required to keep records of what foods you serve the children, but the program can be done online which greatly limits the amount of paperwork involved. For information about what records you need to keep, call the CACFP Coordinator or monitor.
The Department of Health, who funds CACFP, requires us to do home visits (monitoring visits). These visits are required to be unannounced. During these visits, we must check your records, but can also include technical assistance and training to help you with your program.
You can access the Kid Kare program for CACFP from any computer that has internet access. We can also provide paper forms to claim manually without a computer.
